Playlingua

Virliesconcours

The Virliesconcours is a reading competition aimed at pupils in Cycle 4. The children read aloud an extract from a children’s book. The competition begins in the classroom and culminates in a national final.

The children choose two languages in which they would like to read aloud:

  • a first language (German, French or Luxembourgish), which the child considers to be the language in which they read most confidently;
  • a second language (German, French, Luxembourgish or English), in which the child also enjoys reading aloud.

English cannot be chosen as a first language, as it is not a language of instruction in primary schools.

The brochure (download below) contains detailed information on how the competition works.

The school winner must be registered by the teacher or school librarian by 5 February 2027 at the latest. Further information on registration can be found in the brochure or below under the terms and conditions.

You can find a review of the last reading competition here.

Journées du livre et du droit d’auteur

The Journées du livre et du droit d’auteur are held each year around April 23, International Book Day, and are dedicated to a specific theme.
This event is primarily aimed at primary school pupils. However, secondary schools may also take part. Participation is open to classes, year groups or schools.
SCRIPT provides a theme-based bibliography, and schools organise activities based on the theme for the current year.
In May, each school sends SCRIPT a report on the activities carried out.
At the end of the school year, participating schools receive a ‘book gift’ as a token of appreciation.

At the start of the new school year, a summary of the ‘Days of the Book and Copyright’ is published.

Moving words

‘Wierder déi beweegen’ is a fun and interactive reading workshop for children aged 8 to 12, in which reading isn’t just done in the mind, but with the whole body.

Children immerse themselves in stories, discover the texts through movement, voice, role-play and emotions, and in doing so develop not only their reading skills, but also their self-confidence, creativity and social skills.

In this workshop, we read, interpret, act and experiment:

– Texts are brought to life, not just read

– Feelings and roles are expressed through movement and voice

– Collaboration is strengthened through small-group activities

– Understanding is deepened through creative activities and reflection

Children are actively immersed in the story: they act out scenes, take on the roles of characters and make connections between what they have read and their own lives.

Workshop objectives

– To spark and nurture a love of reading

– To improve reading comprehension

– To develop emotional skills (empathy, expressing emotions)

– To encourage physical expression and creativity

– To build self-confidence in using language

Why take part?

This workshop offers teachers an innovative and practical approach to integrating reading into their lessons, making it lively, fun and stimulating.

Children don’t just become readers, but also storytellers, actors and explorers.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge – Luxembourg

Am Mëttelpunkt vun der FIRST LEGO League Challenge steet d’kollegial Konkurrenz, wou Gruppe vu maximal 8 Schülerinnen a Schüler tëschent 8 a 16 Joer sech mat Fuerschen, Problemléisen, Programmatioun an Technik beschäftegen, andeems si ee Lego-Roboter programméieren, dee Missioune vun engem Robot Game bewältege soll.

D’FIRST LEGO League verëffentlecht all Joer eng nei Challenge, déi sech op ee wëssenschaftlecht Thema baséiert. Duerch d’FIRST LEGO League Challenge kënnen d’Schülerinnen a Schüler net nëmmen hir STEAM-Fäegkeeten (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) entwéckelen, mee och kritescht a logescht Denken uwenden, fir als Grupp un engem spannenden, missiounsbaséierte ‘Robot Game’ deelzehuelen. Méi Informatioune ginn et ënnert dësem Link.

D’Schülerinnen a Schüler fänken am Ufank vum Schouljoer un, um Projet ze schaffen an no enger nationaler Qualifikatioun mat uschléissend grousser Finall ginn déi éischt dräi bis fënnef lëtzebuerger Teams an d’Belsch an trieden do géint déi 20 bescht belsch Equippen un.

Den Dag vun der Competitioun besteet fir all Equipe aus zwee wesentlechen Deeler. Dat ass zum engen de ‘Robot Game’ an zum aneren d’Presentatioun vum individuellen ‘Innovation Project’.

  • Robot Game

Wärend der Virbereedungsphas an de Schoulen, déi offiziell am Oktober ugeet, muss all Equipe ee Roboter no de Virschrëfte vum Spill entspriechend designen a bauen. Uschléissend kënnen all d’Kanner hir Programméierfäegkeeten entwéckelen, wärenddeems si mat hirem Roboter um Spillfeld probéieren, déi eenzel Missiounen ze erleedegen. Um Dag vum Concours bestreit all Equipe beim ‘Robot Game’ dräi Matcher vun allkéiers zwou an enger hallwer Minutt, fir sou vill Missiounen ewéi méiglech ze meeschteren a Punkten ze erspillen.

  • Innovation Project

Beim ‘Innovation Project’ fuerschen d’Kanner zu engem Theema aus hirem Interessegebidd, formuléieren eng Fuerschungsfro, consultéiere verschidde Sourcen an Experten a bereeden eng uspriechend Präsentatioun vir, fir d’Resultater vun hirem ‘Innovation Project’ engem Jury virzestellen.

FIRST LEGO League

D’FIRST LEGO League gouf duerch eng Partnerschaft tëschent FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) a LEGO Education am Joer 2001 gegrënnt. 3.700 Evenementer, un deenen 110 Länner a méi wéi 679.000 Participanten deelhuelen, ginn all Joer vun der FIRST LEGO League initiéiert.

Fir Lëtzebuerg organiséiert de SCRIPT a Kollaboratioun mat der Voka (Flanders’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry) aus der Belsch dës Competitioun.
