DIY Pico Synth

DIY Pico Synth is a music workshop in which participants have the opportunity to assemble a synthesiser developed specifically for this workshop, which they can then use to make music.

Participants learn the basics of programming and digital sound creation, and gain an insight into how electronic components work (what a circuit board, a potentiometer and a microcontroller are, and how a button works). In the final part, they learn how to create sounds and digital music.

Participants can then take their synthesiser home to continue their musical explorations.

Our hip-hop song featuring Nikki Ninja

Discover the world of hip-hop with Nikki Ninja and the Applaus team! Nikki’s world is child-friendly and full of music, games and all sorts of language fun. Join in the fun with language and beats, and sign up your class for our ‘Our Hip-Hop Song with Nikki Ninja’!

In our ready-made 5-week teaching programme, you’ll first get to know Nikki and her world interactively through videos, accompanied by resources and games. Using these resources, you’ll create your own rap lyrics in class. The Applaus team will then visit your class. In this workshop, you’ll create your very own beat. Before that, however, you’ll learn what a beat actually is and receive tips and tricks on how to make your own song sound even better. The grand finale will then be the second workshop with Nikki Ninja herself. During this, your class will visit Nikki Ninja. (In the Region of Luxembourg City, the exact location is still to be confirmed).

Specifically, the programme includes:

5 prepared school lessons in which you’ll explore the topic of hip-hop at school using educational resources. These resources will be provided by Applaus, and this is where the children will learn what they need for the next stage.
Writing lyrics for your song. This is done individually with your class.
An introductory workshop with the Applaus team and your class. Here, we’ll lay the foundations for the song based on your lyrics.
A workshop with Nikki Ninja. In this workshop, we’ll work on your very own hip-hop song and record it straight away.

Sing our song!

This offer is aimed at all classes from C1 to C4 and is based on the musical material on applaus.lu. “Sing our Song!” consists of two different interventions: a workshop and a recording. Together with Applaus, each class chooses a song from applaus.lu and learns it individually. The Applaus team then comes to the class with a music workshop centred on the chosen song. After the class has had further time to work on their performance, the team returns a second time with the necessary technical equipment to record it. Depending on the song, this can be limited to singing or can also include, for example, playing an instrument or body percussion.
